The hotel was in a convenient location, close to Michelin starred restaurants and with easy access to central Edinburgh. The rooms, although clean, showed signs of age. The service was friendly and professional, complementing the overall experience. However, the dining experience was inconsistent with a mix of good and disappointing aspects. The value for money was decent with some aspects needing improvement.

The hotel is located down near the Port of Leith, away from the hustle and bustle of Central Edinburgh. The rooms are decorated to a high standard with great facilities and a good choice for breakfast, offering a view of the harbour. However, the dining experience can be hit and miss with long waits and limited availability. The service, though, is top-notch, and the staff handle situations professionally. The location is brilliant, especially when the easterly winds are not blowing, despite being a bit tired looking and affected by roadworks. The price may be a concern for some due to the indulgent pastry prices and not ideal breakfast service.
